It's alway great to have visitors—especially if they're really good at their craft.

Such was the case the other night, when three Irish guests—Colman, Edel and Ryan—joined us for one of our midweek summer matches. All Irish nationals, they're in the DC area for the summer coaching an inferior sport (soccer), but we won't hold that against them. Haha.

Amid some low-slung early summer clouds and the usual heavy air, Coleman and Edel put on a clinic with their mad skills. (Edel told me she's been playing since she was 5. It showed. She also plays for a club back home.) And even though Ryan told us he was playing the game for the first time, no one could tell. Maybe his Brooklyn hoops jersey provided some inspiration.

At any rate, they were excellent guests—we're hoping they make Van Dyck Park and our midweek matches a regular diversion until they head back back home later this summer.

It beats kicking around a soccer ball.
